Position: Human Resources Business Partner (Contract)

Southbridge Health Care LP owns and operates several long‑term care and retirement Homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to deliver support and expertise to a portfolio of LTC homes (Southbridge Care Homes). Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, this role plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality HR services to our corporate office and leaders across our LTC and Retirement homes.

This role works closely with managers to align people practices with organizational needs, providing guidance on talent management, employee relations, and organizational development. By collaborating with the Senior HRBP and peers, the HRBP contributes to initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture while maintaining compliance with legislation and organizational policies.

This is a full‑time position eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with 3‑4 days per week remote. Involves occasional travel to the sites across Eastern Ontario, a reliable vehicle is a must. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flexibility depending on project requirements and occasional need for overtime. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.

The environment is fast‑paced and deadline‑driven, requiring high attention to detail and strong time management skills. The role includes regular use of computer systems and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with managers and business leaders across assigned sites to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and HR policy and contract interpretation, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Provide disability management support, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and organizational policies.
  • Lead all labour relations matters at assigned sites, including discipline, performance improvement planning, grievance management, assisting in collective bargaining processes, and supporting complex workplace investigations.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and employee alignment.
  • Execute annual compensation cycle activities in coordination with leadership and Payroll.
  • Drive employee engagement and retention efforts, including planning and executing engagement action plans.
  • Track and report on workforce metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, grievances) quarterly, highlighting trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Deliver site‑based training or information sessions on topics such as workplace culture, policy updates, and leadership development.
  • Manage workplace issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, and compliance with employment and health & safety legislation.
  • Stay current on employment legislation, collective agreements, and HR best practices to proactively identify risks and recommend policy or process improvements.
  • Assist with the development, review, and enhancement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline HR administration and increase efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a similar post‑secondary diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a Business Partner or similar role.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders and influencing business outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and drive change initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • CHRL designation is an asset.
