About the Opportunity

An established national organization is seeking an experienced HR Advisor, Labour Relations to provide strategic labour relations guidance in a highly unionized environment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting leaders through complex employee and labour relations matters.

Working closely with Human Resources and Labour Relations teams, you'll play a key role in providing expert advice on collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, policy development, dispute resolution, and workplace legislation. Your Responsibilities
  • You'll provide strategic labour relations advice to leaders on collective agreement interpretation, employee relations matters, and workplace legislation.
  • You'll manage the full grievance process, including investigations, legal research, evidence gathering, grievance hearings, and drafting responses.
  • You'll support collective bargaining initiatives, policy development, and labour relations strategies that align with organizational objectives.
  • You'll interpret federal, provincial, and territorial employment legislation, arbitration decisions, and case law to provide practical recommendations.
  • You'll collaborate with HR partners on staffing, accommodation, attendance management, organizational design, and other human resources initiatives.
  • You’ll prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and training materials while building positive labour-management relationships.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 4+ years of progressive labour relations experience in a unionized environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full grievance lifecycle and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation, employment equity, human rights, accommodation, and alternative dispute resolution practices.
  • Experience conducting legal research, analyzing complex workplace issues, and providing practical recommendations to leaders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience representing an employer before arbitration boards, labour boards, tribunals, or other dispute resolution forums is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel as required.
