Director of HR

Position: Director of HR at Canadian Bar Association
Join the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) as the Director of Human Resources in Ottawa, focusing on enhancing the HR function within a hybrid work model. Your strategic leadership will be vital in managing HR operations for approximately 70 employees.

As the Director, you'll report directly to the CEO while overseeing HR services that span organizational development, retention strategies, and labor relations in a unionized context. Your responsibilities will include directing performance management initiatives and ensuring the implementation of HR best practices. You will also streamline existing processes to enhance service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct HR strategies in collaboration with executive leadership

• Supervise a dedicated team of HR professionals

• Facilitate the development and execution of performance management systems

• Ensure compliance with various employment laws and union agreements

• Lead research on employee trends to inform HR strategies

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar

• Minimum of 10 years in HR with increasing responsibilities

• Experience managing HR teams in unionized settings for at least 3 years

• Proven background in performance management system implementation

• Bilingual in English and French is essential
