Canadian North is a vital air service provider for the Canadian Arctic and a leading charter carrier with a mission to make life better in the communities it serves. An Exchange Income Corporation (TSX: EIF) company, Canadian North provides passenger and cargo services to 25 northern communities, connecting them with major southern hubs including Ottawa, Montreal, and Edmonton. Operating a fleet of Boeing 737 jets and ATR 42/72 turboprops, the airline delivers reliable transportation across some of the most demanding flying environments in the world, where aviation serves as essential infrastructure for remote communities.
In July 2025, Exchange Income Corporation completed its acquisition of Canadian North, strengthening the airline’s position within a broader northern aviation platform dedicated to remote operations. With strong backing from an aviation-focused parent company, Canadian North is continuing to invest in safety, operational reliability, and service delivery while maintaining its deep commitment to the northern communities it serves.
Canadian North is seeking a Vice President, Flight Operations, a senior executive responsible for the strategic leadership, regulatory compliance, operational integrity, and financial performance of the airline’s flight operations. The Vice President will lead all aspects of flight operations including pilot workforce leadership, operational control and dispatch, training and standards, and safety management systems. Serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the role is accountable for ensuring full compliance with Transport Canada regulations and Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) while maintaining the highest standards of operational safety, reliability, and efficiency.
The Vice President will champion a safety-first culture, oversee operational performance across the airline’s network, and serve as the primary liaison with aviation regulators. This leader will also play an important role in shaping the airline’s long-term operational strategy, including fleet planning, operational performance improvements, workforce planning, and alignment with broader corporate objectives. The role requires close collaboration with maintenance, ground operations, commercial, safety, and finance teams to ensure integrated operational performance across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned aviation executive with deep operational credibility and enterprise-level leadership capability. Candidates will hold an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) issued by Transport Canada and bring significant command experience on multi-crew turbine aircraft, ideally within a CARs 705 commercial airline environment. They will have a demonstrated track record leading complex airline operations, safety programs, regulatory compliance, and pilot workforce management.
Experience leading in unionized environments and navigating complex operational conditions is highly valued.
Equally important, the successful candidate will be a visible and people-oriented leader who fosters professionalism, accountability, and collaboration across the organization. They will bring strong strategic perspective while maintaining deep operational discipline, helping guide Canadian North through its next phase of growth while ensuring safe and reliable service across the Arctic.
Canadian North is more than an airline—it is critical infrastructure for the communities it serves, transporting families, essential supplies, and economic opportunity throughout the North. This role offers a rare opportunity to lead flight operations in one of the most challenging and meaningful aviation environments in Canada, helping ensure that northern communities remain connected for generations to come.
