The Ottawa Police Service Board is seeking a strategic and accomplished leader to serve as its next Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Reporting to the Chief of Police and serving as a key member of OPS’ Command, the CAO is the organization’s most senior civilian business and administrative leader. The CAO provides strategic oversight and leadership across all corporate services functions, ensuring the effective delivery of administrative and support services that enable operational excellence and align with the expectations of the Ottawa Police Service Board.
A critical advisor to the Chief of Police, Executive Command, and the Board, the CAO leads the development and execution of long-term strategies spanning finance, human resources, facilities, information management and technology, and organizational development. The role is central to advancing enterprise-wide transformation, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen organizational performance and accountability.
The CAO builds and sustains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, community partners, and service providers, and plays a lead role in negotiations, governance processes, organizational planning and reporting.
As the ideal candidate, you are an accomplished executive with a track record of success in leading complex corporate portfolios within large, complex unionized operational environments. You bring deep expertise in strategic planning, business transformation, and the oversight of core administrative functions such as finance, HR, and IT, ideally within the municipal or broader public sectors.
You are a trusted advisor with exceptional judgment, political acuity, and the ability to navigate complex governance environments. An inclusive and collaborative leader, you are recognized for building high-performing teams, fostering strong partnerships, and driving results and continuous improvement in dynamic and highly visible settings.
