Overview

Established in 1922, the Fruit & Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) is an Ottawa‑based, voluntary, not‑for‑profit national association that represents the voices of fruit and vegetable growers across Canada. The FVGC advocates for the fresh produce sector, championing issues to promote healthy, safe, and sustainable food. Committed to industry growth and success, the FVGC plays a pivotal role in advancing the interests of its members, advocating for labour, crop protection, environ ment, trade, and other key priorities.

Job Summary

Reporting to the President, the Executive Director (ED) will execute a bold and compelling vision that drives the growth of the Canadian fruit and vegetable sector. The ED will lead a team of 10 staff, steward a budget of approximately $1.5 million, and align the membership on key priorities. The new ED will craft a government‑relations strategy, spearhead initiatives to solidify FVGC’s position as the primary authority on key policy and regulatory issues, and cultivate a collaborative, high‑performing work environ ment to achieve the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a team of 10 staff and manage a budget of approximately $1.5 million dollars.
  • Develop and execute a government‑relations strategy that positions FVGC as a leading authority on sector policy.
  • Align diverse membership on key priorities to advance the association’s mission.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, high‑performing work environ ment that promotes innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Proven dynamic leadership with experience in advocacy, strategic planning, and financial stewardship.
  • Track record of elevating organizational profiles, fostering member engagement, and driving growth and sustainability initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French are strongly preferred.
Work Schedule & Location

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days per week in the Ottawa office.
