This role sits at the centre of CDEV’s mandate as an active asset manager. As Vice President, Portfolio Management, you will shape how CDEV oversees, evaluates, and drives performance across its group of companies. You will build and lead CDEV’s portfolio management approach, establishing clear frameworks for performance, governance, and reporting, and ensuring leadership and the Board have the insight needed to make informed decisions, while also providing performance management support for the Execution and Advisory team, supported by a Business Unit Manager.

Working closely with subsidiary CEOs, Boards, and key stakeholders, you will help define how to create value and support priority initiatives, including the launch of new subsidiaries or programs, by putting in place the governance, reporting, and operating structures needed for success. This is not a traditional transaction role. It is a build-and-shape mandate, requiring strong judgment, structured thinking, and the ability to bring consistency and discipline across a complex and evolving portfolio.

You will also play a key role in strengthening internal capability, mentoring team members, and embedding a more systematic approach to active asset management across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a senior, commercially minded leader with experience overseeing complex portfolios and governance structures. They bring strong judgment in managing performance, risk, and value across diverse assets, and know when to influence, intervene, or step back. They combine strategic perspective with a practical, hands-on approach – able to build the frameworks, reporting, and disciplines needed for effective portfolio oversight.

They are comfortable operating at the intersection of government, boards, and management teams. A clear communicator and trusted advisor, they distill complex issues into actionable insight and support executive and Board decision-making. They are also a builder, able to establish new capabilities, stand up functions or entities, and strengthen teams over time.

Combining strong analytical capability with pragmatic leadership, the successful candidate is equally effective setting portfolio strategy, overseeing active asset management, and rolling up their sleeves when required to support complex execution and advisory mandates. They inspire confidence through clear judgment, thoughtful communication, and an ability to bring structure, insight, and momentum to complex decisions.

The role may be based in either Toronto or Ottawa.
