Job Posting: Director, Operations

Vacancy Type: New Position

Position Status: Full-time, Permanent

Work Model: Hybrid (4 days in office Monday through Thursday)

Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000 annually

Position Summary

The Director, Operations reports directly to the President and CEO. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Foundation's operational functions, ensuring the organization has the systems, infrastructure, processes, and partnerships required to support the delivery of exceptional supportive cancer care and achieve the organization's strategic priorities.

The Director is responsible for leading facilities and infrastructure, vendor stewardship, administrative operations, governance support, enterprise risk management, organizational compliance, and continuous operational improvement. Working collaboratively with internal leaders, external partners, and service providers, the Director drives operational excellence, strengthens organizational effectiveness, and ensures the Foundation's resources are managed responsibly and efficiently.

The Director supports sound organizational governance by contributing operational expertise to strategic planning and Board reporting, while working collaboratively with the Foundation's finance team to ensure operational decisions are aligned with financial objectives and organizational priorities. The role is accountable for managing a departmental operating budget and capital projects and for ensuring strong stewardship of organizational resources.

Key Responsibilities Vendor Stewardship
  • Develop and oversee the organization's vendor management strategy, ensuring strong partnerships that support operational excellence and organizational priorities
  • Build relationships with vendors who may also become corporate partners, identifying opportunities for added value and community engagement where appropriate
  • Establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with key vendors, service providers, and external partners
  • Lead the procurement, negotiation, renewal, and termination of vendor contracts in collaboration with legal, finance, and organizational leadership
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs), addressing issues proactively
  • Ensure vendors comply with organizational policies, privacy requirements, insurance obligations, and applicable legislation
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, reduce costs, and increase value through effective vendor management and strategic sourcing
  • Oversee competitive procurement processes where appropriate, ensuring fairness, transparency, and value for money
  • Maintain accurate vendor documentation, contracts, and renewal schedules, ensuring timely review and compliance
  • Evaluate vendor needs, resolve service issues, and support continuous operational improvement
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and partnership in all vendor relationships
  • Seek opportunities for in-kind contributions, preferred pricing, or donated services that support the organization's mission and maximize resources
Facilities & Infrastructure Management
  • Provide oversight for organizational facilities, including maintenance, repairs, leases, safety, and operational readiness
  • Oversee facilities operations and the long-term stewardship of the organization's physical assets, including building lifecycle planning, preventative maintenance, capital projects, and contractor management
  • Work with Leadership Team to develop and oversee a manager on-site schedule and protocol
  • Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and building regulations
  • Oversee administrative systems, operational policies, procurement practices, and organizational documentation
  • Monitor operational efficiencies and recommend improvements to systems and workflows
  • Oversee Managed Service Providers related to facilities, information technology, security
