Our client, a nationally recognized membership-based organization, is seeking a strategic and hands-on finance leader to join their executive operations team. This role plays a critical part in overseeing financial stewardship, operational infrastructure, and administrative leadership for a complex national organization serving tens of thousands of members across Canada.

Working closely with elected leadership and senior stakeholders, you will guide financial planning, reporting, and organizational modernization while supporting a collaborative team environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization where financial insight and operational leadership directly support the sustainability and effectiveness of national programs and member services.

What’s in it for You
  • A senior leadership role with meaningful influence over financial strategy and operational improvements
  • The opportunity to work closely with national executives and an engaged governing board
  • Exposure to complex financial operations within a large membership-based organization
  • The chance to modernize systems, improve reporting, and strengthen internal processes
  • A collaborative workplace that values fairness, resilience, and strong working relationships
Your Responsibilities
  • You’ll lead the development and oversight of the organization’s annual operating budget, providing financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • In this role, you’ll oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements while ensuring strong internal controls and efficient financial processes.
  • You’ll supervise and mentor a finance team of eight professionals, providing hands-on leadership across accounts payable, payroll oversight, and financial administration.
  • You’ll manage cash flow, investments, and financial modelling to support organizational planning and long-term sustainability.
  • You’ll collaborate with executive leadership and board committees, supporting audit processes and advising on financial and operational priorities.
  • You’ll oversee key administrative and HR-related functions, including payroll oversight for a large unionized workforce, benefits administration, and facilities management.
  • You’ll play a key role in system improvements and modernization initiatives, helping implement new tools and processes that enhance operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally within a complex or mission-driven organization
  • CPA designation required
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing large organizational budgets and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, and financial controls, ideally within a not-for-profit or membership-based environment
  • Experience working with or reporting to a board or executive committee
  • Experience overseeing payroll, HR administration, or finance operations within a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Exceptional bilingual communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups
