PMI Ottawa Valley Outaouais (OVOC) is a volunteer-driven chapter of the Project Management Institute, the world’s leading project management organization. The chapter serves more than 5,000 members across 30 communities in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec as a focal point for sharing and advancing project management knowledge. Members and volunteers can grow their professional visibility through networking, events, certifications, and hands‑on volunteer opportunities.

Chapter Volunteers support the planning and delivery of PMI OVOC programs, events, and member services in a full‑time, hybrid role based in Ottawa, ON, with some work‑from‑home flexibility. Day-to-day activities may include assisting with event coordination, supporting communications and social media, helping manage chapter initiatives, and providing administrative support to chapter leaders and committees. Volunteers may help with member outreach, tracking registrations, preparing meeting materials, and collecting feedback to improve chapter offerings.
Depending on interests and experience, volunteers can contribute to areas such as professional development programs, marketing, sponsorship, or community engagement. This role offers opportunities to gain exposure to project management, expand a professional network, and contribute to the local project management community.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities to support multiple chapter activities and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for member outreach, email correspondence, and event coordination.
- Comfort with basic digital tools (e.g., office productivity software, virtual meeting platforms, social media) to support hybrid collaboration.
- Demonstrated teamwork, reliability, and a collaborative mindset when working with diverse volunteers and stakeholders.
- Interest in project management, community building, or professional development; prior PMI or volunteer experience is an asset.
- Ability to be available for occasional evening or weekend events in the Ottawa region, as needed.
- Professional, inclusive, and respectful approach when engaging with chapter members and community partners.
