About the Role
Interim Pastor to lead the church during a transition period following the retirement of our long‑time pastor. Responsibilities include preaching on Sundays, providing one additional ministry, and participating in church governance.
Responsibilities- Preach and teach God's Word in Sunday services.
- Lead Bible studies and teaching sessions.
- Provide pastoral care, including counseling and visitation.
- Coordinate and support one additional ministry program.
- Administer sacraments as appropriate: baptisms, communion, weddings, and funerals.
- Attend monthly leadership meetings with the Church Council, administrator, and trustees.
- Collaborate with the choir director, organist, and other ministry staff.
- MDiv (preferred) or equivalent theological education.
- Ordained and capable of giving communion; pastoral licensing or church accreditation preferred.
- Minimum of one year post‑graduate ministry experience.
- General college or university degree with accreditation in positive standing with the CBOQ (College Board Of Ontario Qualifications) required.
- Applicants not currently accredited must be eligible and willing to pursue accreditation and maintain good standing as a condition of continued employment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to Baptist principles and a servant‑leader mindset.
Fourth Avenue Baptist Church is located in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood. The congregation has over 70 members, with Sunday service attendance averaging 30–40. The church is active in community outreach, partnering with local organizations and hosting cultural events in its shared space.
