OverviewThe Financial Services Manager (FSM) sells finance and insurance programs, aftermarket products and warranties to buyers of new and used boats. FSMs also work with financial lenders to provide fair interest rates (prime and sub‑prime) to buyers and programs.
As with all positions within dealerships, FSMs are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards. FSMs are required to maintain the profitability of their department while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction. Managers must understand and keep abreast of the federal, provincial, and local regulations that affect their operations, and comply with these regulations. Management personnel require strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees, and vendors, as they represent the dealership.
People working within the automotive retail industry often must work extended hours, evenings, and weekends to achieve their goals.
This is a full‑time, commission‑based position.

Reports to:
Vice‑President, Marine Operations
- Develop strong relationships with customers and offer financing and insurance, and provide thorough explanations of aftermarket products and extended warranties, and manufacturer and dealership service procedures and policies.
- Seek new lending institutions and maintain good working relationships to secure competitive interest rates and financing programs.
- Process financing and leasing deals accurately and secure approval through financial sources and proper federal, provincial, and corporate channels.
- Understand and comply with federal, provincial, and local regulations that affect the new and used‑RV, marine, and vehicle and finance departments.
- Create and maintain a program with the sales department to ensure all new sales are referred to the F&I department.
- Train and provide the sales team with information on finance and lease programs and the benefits of the dealership’s financing and extended service programs.
- Work directly with the VP Marine Operations and Sales Manager(s) to ensure seamless service and a positive customer experience.
- Listen to and document customer needs and expectations throughout the sales visit.
- Follow‑up with customers in a way that works best for them.
- Prepare for the delivery of new vehicle; ensure all details of the Finance and Insurance process are completed.
- Ensure all documentation/paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Review and analyze actions regularly to determine how to better utilize time and plan more effectively.
- Commit to the Dealership Brand: stay up to date on all dealership training programs; be able to explain technical features, options, and their benefits; be knowledgeable about new features, specials, and updates; be a champion for delivering excellent service at all times; actively maintain the cleanliness of personal and team work spaces; maintain a high level of professional appearance at all times;
keep up to date with products, accessories, prices, and key features of major competitors.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- College certificate or additional courses would be an asset.
- RV, marine, powersports and/or automotive sales experience an asset.
- Provincially licensed as recognized by the MVDA (OMVIC, AMVIC, etc.)
- Adaptable to work evening and weekend shifts as scheduled.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an upbeat and engaging attitude.
- Excellent customer service skills including listening and the ability to impact and influence others.
- Organized and an attention to detail with the ability to document customer needs.
- Flexible and open to change; take on special tasks as needed.
- Ability to manage customer complaints and to solve difficult problems.
- Results oriented and accountable.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Able to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
