At Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), we believe that science thrives when it reflects the diversity of the communities it serves. That’s why we have partnered with Canadian Black Scientists Network (CBSN) to launch the Black Student Recruitment Initiative (BSRI), an effort to connect Black students in the sciences with meaningful student opportunities at DFO.

The Marine Environmental Quality (MEQ) program across Canada supports other planning and conservation initiatives such as marine spatial planning by developing management measures and providing advice.

Recall: MEQ activities also support the effective management of marine protected areas (MPAs) and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) in the marine environ ment.

  • Education: Enrolled in a program related to biology, environmental sciences or studies, conservation, or natural resource management
  • Experience / Duties:
    • Conducting lite rature reviews and internet searches
    • Analyzing and summarizing information
    • Reviewing and preparing reports
  • Knowledge:
    • National and/or global environmental issues related to species conservation
    • Marine stressors (e.g., ocean noise, nutrient enrichment, marine debris)
  • Policy Support: Experience in supporting policy development and implementation related to environmental management
