Geologist

We have a new exciting opportunity for a Geologist Core Logger. We are seeking two Geologists immediately for summer/fall season. The ideal candidates will be recent graduates with 2 or 3 years work experience, with strong rock and mineral identification skills.

The position is located in Northern Ontario and will focus on greenstone belt exploration and logging drill core. Our client is a large mining company, and the work will be carried out at their facility in Northern Ontario. The schedule is expected to be 2 weeks on - 2 weeks off (but can be flexible).

Major Responsibilities

• Core Logging;
  Geological descriptions; defining geological intervals
• Collection and preparation of geological samples for analysis
• Experience working in greenstone belts
• Work in the remote field locations / conditions

Qualifications and

Experience:

• B.Sc. in Geology or Earth Science
• Registration as a professional (P.Geo. or G.I.T.)
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working on exploration or mining projects
• Experience with Exploration drilling; dealing with drill core; drill inspections
• Experience with Core Logging
• Valid Driver’s License
• Microsoft Office – basic understanding (Word; Excel)
• Detailed oriented with good organizational skills
• Ability to work in remote locations
• Ability to work in a team setting with other geologists and technicians
• Ability to understand and follow health and safety regulations
• Must be physically fit to perform daily tasks
• Must be able to read, understand and follow guidelines, procedures, instructions accurately and safely
• Experience with Health and Safety procedures and policies
• Ability to work independently as well as in a small team setting

• Only candidates who are legally permitted to work in Canada will be considered.

• This is a fixed term position, however there may be opportunity for contract extensions.
