Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position. A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar positions with varying tenures, language and security requirements.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

  • Education
    Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in earth sciences, physics, geology or some other science relevant to the position.
  • Experience
    Significant experience conducting laboratory or field work studies supporting mining or oil and gas projects in Canada.
    • Significant is defined as experience acquired over approximately 5 years.
  • Experience compiling, analyzing or interpreting geoscientific data.
  • Experience providing professional services for clients.

Applied / assessed at a later date

  • Knowledge
    Knowledge of seismic instrumentation and monitoring techniques and principals.
    Knowledge of data and signal processing and analysis techniques.
    Knowledge of geomechanical laboratory testing methods and procedures.
    Knowledge of standard operating procedures in a laboratory environment.

    Effective interpersonal relationships

    Dependability
    Working under minimal supervision
  • Abilities
    Ability to work independently.
    Ability to manage time effectively.
    Ability to organize field or laboratory data.

  • Asset Education
    Graduation with a master’s (or PhD) degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a scientific or engineering field with specialities related to the duties of the position.
  • Asset Experience
    Experience working with micro-seismic data.
  • Experience working in a geological or civil engineering testing laboratory.
  • Experience using MATLAB (or equivalent) software.
