This MSc Research Affiliate Program, supervised by experts at Western University and the Geological Survey of Canada, begins January 2027 and lasts two years. The selected student will investigate the role of non-silicate melts within mineralized intrusions, utilizing advanced microanalytical techniques to enrich the understanding of metal transport and enrichment processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and characterize melt inclusions in MCR intrusions
• Use Raman spectroscopy and SEM-EDS for analyses
• Reconstruct magmatic evolution of intrusions
• Determine quantitative analysis methods for salt melts
• Compare intrusions across northern and southern MCR regions
Requirements:
• Enrollment in MSc program at Western University
• Experience with optical microscopy
• Knowledge of igneous petrology
• Understanding of geochemical data interpretation
• Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
