This Role In Summary
Whirlpool Canada is seeking a candidate for the role of Appliance Technician – Ottawa. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional consumer experience in customers homes, including technical diagnosis, repair, and installation of kitchen and laundry appliances including washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and microwave ovens. Whirlpool Canada is the number one supplier of small and major home appliances, selling products under brands that include Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchen Aid, and Jenn-Air.

- Diagnose concerns by interpreting the customer’s observations, determine proper solutions or repairs, reference manufacturers service manuals and bulletins, and use specialized tools and testing devices to locate issues.
- Maintain appliances by disassembling, cleaning internal parts, replacing faulty or worn parts, reassembling and testing.
- Ensure installations that require connections to water, electrical, or gas lines are completed correctly and in accordance with installation instructions.
- Use business management software to manage service calls.
- Follow company processes as per service Standard Operating Procedures.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and French.
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Physically fit with the ability to lift upwards of 55 lbs and perform daily labor.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of experience in the appliance repair field or another service industry (e.g., telecommunications, electrical, HVAC, maintenance)
- Appliance Service Technician Red Seal Certificate (or in process of acquiring / registered as journeyman apprentice)
- Formal technical training in appliance repair
- Ability to use tablet/laptop computers
- Familiarity with mobile technology and applications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, adaptable to change, and customer service oriented
- Comfortable with Google Software and Applications (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides) or equivalent
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Results-driven with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as blueprints, electrical schematics, operating and maintenance manuals, work orders, repair parts requests, and measurement tools (e.g., tape measure, micrometer, caliper, VOM)
