Title: Installation Technician
Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
We're hiring an Installation Technician for a telecommunications and technology solutions client in the Ottawa area. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to install and configure communication, security, and structured cabling systems in both commercial and residential environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working with telecommunications equipment, low-voltage cabling, and integrated technology systems.
Job Responsibilities- Install and configure telecommunications systems including phone systems and voicemail systems
- Install and terminate structured cabling for voice, data, video, and audio networks
- Install and configure CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and intercom systems
- Assist with installation and setup of audio/video systems including distributed audio, HDTV, and home theatre systems
- Perform site assessments to determine installation requirements and recommend solutions
- Troubleshoot and repair cable, connectivity, and system performance issues
- Ensure all installations meet safety standards and company quality expectations
- Maintain organized work areas and proper documentation for completed installations
- Communicate professionally with clients to explain system functionality and ensure satisfaction
- Minimum 4 years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or low‑voltage system installation
- Experience installing phone systems, data cabling, CCTV, alarm systems, or access control systems
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation plans
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites
