Role Overview

The Regional Maintenance Associate is primarily responsible for the general, preventative, and repair maintenance of a portfolio of buildings, apartment units, and grounds. This role responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns and supports a variety of maintenance activities, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting to ensure service and support is provided to residents.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service – Ensure that a superior level of cooperation, service, and support is provided to residents.
  • Operations – Perform general and specialized maintenance and repairs to site properties and surrounding properties under the direction of the Regional Maintenance Manager, Regional Project Manager, and Regional Team Leader.
  • Complete assigned service requests for both in-suite (interior and exterior) and common area issues in a timely manner.
  • Complete in-suite turnover activities, including light and heavy maintenance such as appliance replacement, basic carpentry, painting, and basic electrical repairs.
  • Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine required repairs or preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of electrical, mechanical, and work areas as well as supply and storage areas.
  • Perform all facets of the job in accordance with applicable legislation, including Health and Safety standards, WHMIS, AODA, PIPEDA, and Human Rights.
  • Comply with health & safety procedures, use required safety equipment, and identify unsafe practices or conditions while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Maintain regular and timely documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies when on call.
  • May be required to work with contractors and monitor work progress.
  • Perform all other duties within the scope of the job, as requested by management.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
  • Completion of High School or general education degree (GED).
  • 2+ years of maintenance or related experience.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle at all times.
  • Flexibility to work on-call on a rotating schedule (evenings & weekends).
  • Proficient with use of basic handheld and electrical tools.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, painting, and related trades.
  • Excellent communication skills; speaking additional languages is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, using good judgment to assess difficult situations.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to multi‑task.
  • High degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Self‑motivated with a “can‑do” attitude and a commitment to “Best in Class” customer service.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Experience with multi‑residential or related industry asset class.
  • Certification/license from a recognized trade profession.

Salary

Annualized Base Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000.

The salary range listed for this position reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation offered may vary and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, certifications, internal pay equity and business needs.
