As a member of the Service team, the Field Technician must be a highly motivated team player who completes the duties required in a professional and timely manner. They will assume overall responsibility for the safe, effective, clean, organized and professional performance.
Expected Salary Range (per hour)$40.00 – $46.00 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement a customer‑centered service philosophy within the department, representing the front line of the company and resolving client problems.
- Increase revenues, improve operating efficiencies and overall customer satisfaction through the timely completion of field service work.
- Perform all aspects of assigned field service calls, including but not limited to:
- Proactive customer contact to accurately identify machine faults.
- Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair, including computer connection/diagnosis with the machine to identify fault codes.
- Effective communication with vendor (Volvo) regarding Tech Line and/or direct calls to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
- Accurate ordering of required parts and follow‑up to ensure parts are received to complete the service work; record time cards and job safety information in the system.
- Timely and accurate service report submissions (including time cards) detailing repairs, time taken and parts used.
- Maintain the assigned service vehicle and tools, ensuring cleanliness and proper condition.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and maintain the CVOR log‑books.
- Maintain open and frequent communication with dispatch and office; keep them informed of routes and availability for nearby tasks.
- Return unused parts after service completion.
- Ensure all field service work/inquiries by customers and or field dispatch are managed professionally and timely; process requests quickly to retain the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Email, vendor website, Prosis, Tech. Line).
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Proficiency with hand tools, computer tools, torches, welding equipment and air tools.
- Red Seal 421A mechanic licence.
- Post‑secondary diploma and/or relevant work experience required.
- Licensed Heavy Equipment Certification/license or equivalent.
- Similar work experience.
- On‑call 24/7.
