Multi-Trade Carpenter (Restoration & Reconstruction)

Paul Davis Ottawa & Lanark is seeking an experienced Multi-Trade Carpenter to join our Reconstruction team. This is a hands-on role for a highly skilled tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship, customer service, and working efficiently in a fast-paced restoration environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager while working closely with Field Coordinators and Project Managers, you will be responsible for completing residential and commercial reconstruction projects following water, fire, wind, mold, and other property losses. You will work independently or lead small crews while maintaining the highest standards of safety, craftsmanship, and professionalism.

This role is ideal for someone who can successfully complete everything from small repair and service work to larger reconstruction projects. The successful candidate will possess a broad construction background and be comfortable identifying, assessing, and completing a wide variety of building repairs with minimal supervision.

The majority of your work will include drywall installation and finishing, framing, trim and finish carpentry, flooring installation, painting, cabinetry, doors, ceilings, and general reconstruction work.

NATURE & SCOPE

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete residential and commercial reconstruction projects from start to finish.
  • Complete small repair, service, deficiency, and warranty-related projects independently.
  • Perform framing, drywall installation and repairs, taping preparation, painting, trim installation, cabinetry, flooring, suspended ceilings, and general carpentry.
  • Install doors, baseboards, casings, hardware, and millwork.
  • Complete demolition and reconstruction work as required.
  • Assess site conditions and determine the most effective repair solutions for a variety of construction-related deficiencies.
  • Read and interpret work orders, scopes of work, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure all work meets building code requirements and Paul Davis quality standards.
  • Communicate daily with Project Managers regarding project progress, deficiencies, and material requirements.
  • Identify additional repair or reconstruction opportunities and communicate recommendations to Project Managers.
  • Assist in developing project schedules and identifying potential issues before they impact production.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation and material requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
  • Properly operate, maintain, and care for company tools and equipment.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment as required.
  • Occasionally assist the Emergency Services Division during CAT events or high-volume periods.
  • Maintain positive relationships with homeowners, property managers, insurance representatives, and subcontractors.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5+ years of carpentry experience (restoration experience considered a strong asset).
  • Strong knowledge of residential and light commercial construction practices.
  • Experience with drywall, flooring, trim, painting, framing, and finish carpentry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to complete a wide variety of construction repairs and small projects without direct supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Comfortable using a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working in various environments.
  • Experience performing service work, repair work, and deficiency corrections is considered a strong asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
