About this RoleThe Service Technician is responsible for providing high-quality repairs and exceptional customer service in occupied Tartan homes. This role requires the timely resolution of deficiencies while maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach when interacting with homeowners, employees, managers, trades, and community members. All duties and responsibilities must be carried out in a manner that reflects Tartan's vision, values, and commitment to quality, while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service by meeting and interacting with homeowners daily in a manner consistent with Tartan's customer service standards.
- Perform a wide range of residential repair and maintenance work with minimal to no supervision, including drywall installation and repair, insulation, painting, framing, soffit and fascia repairs, ceramic tile work, lighting, railings, and general carpentry.
- Independently repair cracks and defects in drywall and plaster surfaces, including patching, sanding, and finishing to a professional standard.
- Identify construction deficiencies, assess repair requirements, and recommend effective solutions to management.
- Complete service repairs identified through Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), 30-Day, and Year-End warranty work orders.
- Ensure all repairs are completed in accordance with Tartan quality standards, warranty obligations, and homeowner expectations.
- Perform deficiency repairs identified by Site Superintendents prior to homeowner possession.
- Accurately update work orders and ensure homeowners acknowledge completed work through sign-off procedures.
- Keep homeowners informed of repair progress and service timelines throughout each service visit.
- Proactively communicate unresolved issues, additional repair requirements, or requests for support to the Service Manager.
- Prepare and submit detailed service reports documenting completed work and outstanding items.
- Collaborate with Construction Managers, Site Superintendents, and the Service Manager to review recurring issues and develop corrective action plans.
- Conduct regular site visits to remain informed of construction progress and identify potential service concerns.
- Act as a liaison between homeowners and the Construction and Service departments, ensuring timely follow-up and communication.
- Respond promptly to emergency service requests, including water penetration, plumbing leaks, heating failures, and other urgent homeowner concerns.
- Troubleshoot service issues, determine appropriate corrective actions, and perform repairs as required.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to Labourers, Carpenters, and other Service Technicians.
- Support the broader Construction and Service teams by assisting with additional duties as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in the residential homebuilding industry, preferably with a large residential builder.
