Summary

The Specialized Labourer in Formwork is responsible for assisting with the setup, assembly, stripping,

and maintenance of formwork systems used in concrete construction. This role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and familiarity with formwork materials, tools, and safety protocols. The specialized labourer supports carpenters and formwork crews to ensure timely and quality completion of structural

concrete elements such as walls, slabs, columns, and beams.

Job responsibilites

  • Assist in erecting and dismantling various types of formwork (timber, steel, aluminum forms)
  • Prepare and stage materials, tools, and equipment for formwork operations
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings and layout markings
  • Oil and clean forms before re-use
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Comply with all safety regulations, company H&S Policies and programs and wear required PPE
  • Report defects or hazards in formwork systems or tools
  • Assist in pouring and vibrating concrete as needed
  • Job requirements

  • Working at Heights
  • Worker Health and Safety Awareness (4 Steps)
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
  • Experience & Skills

  • Competencies

  • Knowledge of basic construction tools and materials
  • Ability to read simple blueprints and measuring tools
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs) repeatedly
  • Familiarity with scaffolding, shoring, and bracing techniques
  • Work Environment

  • Exposure to all elements of outdoor work (heat, cold, rain, )
  • Physically demanding such as climbing, bending, lifting, standing, and repetitive motion
  • Use of PPE including hard hats, boots, gloves, safety glasses, and harnesses (as required)
  • Variable hours depending on weather and project needs; overtime may be required
