Description Graduate Assistant Athletic Administration & Event Management (29369) at Ottawa University, Ottawa, IL. Job Summary Support the program management of game‑day operations for all campus athletic activities, competitions, and events. Assist in managing student employment related to these programs. Essential Functions and Required Duties
  • Provide support to create a first‑class game‑day environment for student athletes, coaches, teams, fans, and visitors.
  • Coordinate and support all home intercollegiate athletic events as assigned.
  • Oversee game‑day student staff in collaboration with other departments and vendors; assist with staffing, scheduling, training, and physical set‑up and breakdown.
  • Resolve complaints or issues during events while fostering a Champions of Character culture.
  • Assist with ticket sales operations, accounting of gate receipts, and concession stand operations.
  • Execute a robust schedule of game‑day promotions, including halftime and in‑game events to drive attendance.
  • Coordinate communications with visiting teams, ensuring up‑to‑date guide information and support during arrivals, parking, lockers, and practice times.
  • Assist in scheduling games and practices on athletic facilities, ensuring no conflicts.
  • Manage athletic department transportation in accordance with policies, including vehicle scheduling, key issuance, and maintenance.
  • Assist in managing sports inventory and coordinate disposal of unused equipment.
  • Work with the Unit Work Study Coordinator to establish budgets and assist students in recruiting and hiring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduate Assistant General Information Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers (18 credit hours per year), a partial meal allowance, and a bi‑weekly living stipend for 12 months. Renewals for a second year depend on academic performance and duty execution.

International candidates may pursue the on‑campus MBA only if they can secure an F1 visa and meet admission criteria.

Graduate Assistants should be U.S. residents or have proper work authorization.

Academic Requirements

A candidate must be accepted into an Ottawa University graduate program. Admission requirements include:
  • Completed online application at the specified university portal.
  • Required application fee.
  • Official undergraduate transcripts with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a bachelor’s degree.
  • Personal statement on career goals and three professional references.
  • Any additional items specified by the particular graduate program.
