Location – Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas (Ottawa, KS 66067). Position – Graduate Assistant – Part Time (29 hours). Travel – Yes, driving required. MVR required.

Job SummaryThe Graduate Assistant Coach assists with day‑to‑day management of the athletic team, including night and weekend work. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Christian higher education and embody servant‑leadership.
Essential Functions and Required Duties- Recruit, train, and coach program members.
- Recruit, retain, and graduate student‑athletes who contribute to program success and campus vibrancy.
- Fund and friend‑raise for the advancement of the program.
- Oversee student‑athletes’ academic progress toward degree completion.
- Assist with any and all administrative duties as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to NAIA rules, regulations, and the NAIA Champions of Character core values.
- Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service.
- Provide Christ‑centered leadership and direction for the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of collegiate sports as an athlete and/or staff member.
- Effective communication and motivational skills.
- Positive role model for student‑athletes, university personnel, and community members.
- Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
- Model and encourage collaboration among university departments, ensuring effective communication and operations.
- Understand university policies, procedures, and exercise good judgment.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethics per the university code of conduct.
- Represent the university with professional conduct and attitude.
- Support the overall mission of Ottawa University.
- Exercise inclusivity in daily actions, aligning with the mission statement and statement of inclusion.
A limited number of graduate assistants are available through various departments and campus locations. Selected candidates receive an 18‑credit‑hour tuition waiver for an Ottawa University graduate program, a partial meal allowance, and a bi‑weekly living stipend paid over 12 months. Renewable for a second year based on academic performance and quality of duty execution.
International candidates may pursue the on‑campus MBA program if eligible for an F1 visa and meeting admissions criteria. All assistants must be eligible to work in the United States and present required documentation to Human Resources prior to beginning the appointment.
