Job Overview

Kalmar is looking for a dedicated Regulatory Compliance Engineer to join our R&D Engineering team. The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will ensure terminal tractors comply with industry standards, legislation, safety requirements, and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay updated and inform management on local, national, and international regulations and standards related to terminal tractors, specifically in the USA and Canada.
  • Help ensure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal demands for TT products.
  • Report to regulatory authorities and produce reports for periodic reporting obligations.
  • Coordinate or conduct thorough tests and inspections on terminal tractors to verify compliance with safety, emissions, and performance standards.
  • Work with third‑party test and certification agencies, as required.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of certification processes, test results, and compliance records.
  • Work closely with other engineers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies to address compliance and certification issues.
  • Evaluate prototype terminal tractors to determine their compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the certification process, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate certification requirements and results to internal teams, manufacturers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and changes in regulations, implementing improvements in certification processes as necessary.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with certification processes, minimizing potential issues.
  • Provide training, as needed, on certification standards and procedures.
  • Perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedules.
  • Contribute to cooperation between product development, sourcing, testing, and manufacturing operations.
  • Travel to customers or test labs for troubleshooting, if required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Law or a similar discipline.
Experience
  • 5+ years experience preferred in the automotive vehicle (heavy‑duty trucks preferred) and/or mobile equipment industry.
  • Experience with all truck systems – Structural, Electrical, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Powertrain.
  • Comfortable working with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama Connect, Jira/Confluence).
  • Experience compiling data and writing reports.
  • Experience performing or reviewing DVP&Rs, HARAs, FMEA.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying ISO 26262 is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations related to heavy vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency using documentation tools and software (e.g., Google Suite).
  • Strong understanding of requirements engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Understanding of assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Working Together

Will be required to work closely with other TT RDE personnel, Project Managers, Business Development, Test & Validation, Sourcing, Production and Services groups worldwide.
