Job Description

Fusion Medical Staffing is looking for a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for an ICU assignment in Ottawa, Kansas. This 13‑week travel nursing position offers 36 hours per week on a 12‑hour night shift.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an ICU RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
  • TNCC, NIHSS certification
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required
Essential Work Functions
  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing subtle changes in condition
  • Administer complex medications and treatments per critical‑care protocols
  • Operate and manage advanced life‑support equipment
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort in high‑acuity ICU settings
  • Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions, notifying providers of changes in patient status
  • Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, central venous pressure, pulmonary artery catheters)
  • Accurately document all assessments and interventions in a timely manner
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment and treatments
  • Communicate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care
  • Maintain proficiency in critical‑care procedures and technologies through ongoing education
  • Adhere to strict infection‑control protocols to protect patients
  • Engage in quality‑improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes and efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection‑control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
  • Proficient reading, writing, and oral communication in English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, with basic PC skills
  • Physical Abilities – remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills – fine manipulation, assistance with procedures, use of departmental equipment
  • Mental Requirements – cope with public interaction, meet deadlines under pressure, work with irregular schedules, maintain concentration on details
  • Sensory – visual acuity and effective communication
