The Associate Dean, Health Sciences is responsible for fulfilling academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership in accordance with Indian Hills Community College’s Strategic Plan and for exercising holistic judgment when executing the duties of this position. As such, the Associate Dean is responsible for leading curriculum development, program accreditation, assessment and evaluation, grant management, budget planning and monitoring, faculty recruitment, supervision, and evaluation.
The Associate Dean leads the division’s efforts to enhance the profile, visibility, and effectiveness of programs in support of college strategic priorities and key impact areas. This position provides direct leadership, management, and support to any Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty, adjuncts and staff in the division. The Associate Dean fosters and maintains a high-quality environment for teaching and learning conducive to high levels of success as measured by student enrollment, retention and academic achievement.
The Associate Dean creates and strengthens partnerships both internally and externally, as a strong advocate of the college and workforce preparedness. The Associate Dean serves on the College’s Academic Leadership team to advance collaborative academic efforts across the institution.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a physical or natural science or healthcare discipline, education, administration, or closely related field.
- Minimum three years of relevant professional health sciences experience.
- A commitment to and understanding of community college’s mission in health sciences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and positively interact with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence and ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and other technology.
- Ability to effectively work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three years of leadership experience with supervisory responsibilities of a team.
- Deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Previous teaching experience in a community college setting.
- Experience with health sciences program accreditation.
- Current professional licensure in a health sciences field.
- Proven experience using data to inform decision-making for continuous improvement.
- Comfortable navigating and leading through ambiguity.

Health Sciences Administration:
- Oversee the daily operations and supervision of the Health Sciences programs, faculty and staff.
- Prioritize departmental needs effectively and implement plans of action to achieve goals.
- Lead accreditation and compliance processes with accreditors and regulatory entities.
- Coordinate and/or participate in department meetings, program meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings/work sessions.
- Lead departmental efforts in program development, assessment forums, and program reviews.
- Represent Health Sciences through service on college and state-level committees.
