POSITION TITLE:
Student Success Coordinator
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
To support the principal in leading and overseeing the counseling department. This role involves utilizing leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to enhance the educational development of every student and staff member, as well as to foster and sustain a conducive learning environment within the school through strong school counseling structures, processes, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Licensed in the state of Iowa as a school counselor, required.
* Administrative experience or School Counseling experience of at least 2 years is required.
* Strong communication, collaboration, data analysis, consensus building, problem solving and technology skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides leadership and support for all curricular areas.
* Provides direct supervision of the office staff assigned to the Counseling Department.
* Be the primary leader and point of contact for counseling office staff.
* Supervises the recording, reporting, and monitoring of student academic reports.
* Supervises the handling and storage of student records.
* Assists in monitoring of district philosophy and goals to students, staff, and the community.
* Maintains professional growth through graduate work, seminars, professional organizations, and relevant reading.
* Assists in the implementation of supportive student services and frequent student check-ins to meet the needs of students and staff.
* Assists the principal in the overall operation of the counseling department.
* Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
* Performs such recordkeeping functions as the principal may direct.
* Provides leadership in utilizing technology in the learning program.
* Communicates effectively internally and externally regarding operations at the school.
* Recommends proper placement and accesses necessary services for students and parents.
* Supervises students in hallways, study hall, lunch, building exterior, and library.
* Provides supervision of a variety of extracurricular activities.
* Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
* Assists students in their participation in school and community activities.
* Design and oversee professional development for counselors to ensure adequate education needed to perform job duties at a high level.
* Assist with IEP meetings, as needed.
* Ensure accommodations for standardized testing are accurate.
* Advocating/Monitoring graduation plans for students.
* Attend graduation staffings/RISE Program IEP meetings.
* Work with the principal to ensure successful master scheduling.
* Assist the attendance office with behavior and attendance concerns of students.
* Serve as an advocate for students and their families, individually or collectively, in working with school authorities to resolve problems.
* Manage Flexi Scheduler and OHS Hall Pass systems
* Manage and oversee ACT and PSAT testing.
* Ensure "Character Strong" implementation is consistent with expectations and intended outcomes.
