The Science Instructor at Indian Hills Community College will deliver engaging and rigorous science instruction to students in a face to face classroom setting, via zoom, and/or online. In addition, this role will teach science courses for area high school dual enrollment Health Academies, IHCC seevice centers, and/or high school campuses as needed. This full-time role includes developing and implementing lesson plans, teaching courses in science and related disciplines, assessing student progress, and providing feedback to support learning outcomes.

The Science Instructor will maintain accurate records of grades and attendance, hold regular office hours, and offer academic support and advising to students. Responsibilities also include collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, participating in departmental and college meetings, and contributing to initiatives that enhance student success and uphold the college’s mission.

• A master’s degree in one of the following science fields is required:
  Environmental Science;
  Natural Science;
  Physical Science
• A minimum of 12 graduate hours in Biology (any type) is preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in a college or school setting is preferred.

Relevant skills such as classroom management, student-centered teaching, and the use of educational technology and laboratory equipment are beneficial.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive teaching, are expected.
