Job Overview
Monitor Technician role responsible for utilizing telemetry monitoring equipment to watch patients’ heart rhythms, respond to alarms, and report findings. Must collaborate with nursing staff and complete required competencies.

- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients for telemetry.
- Observe, listen, and respond to alarms; identify changes in heart rhythms.
- Obtain measurements from telemetry strips and report abnormalities.
- Collaborate with nurses to prioritize care.
- Complete required competencies and training within assigned time frame.
- Exercise safe judgment and demonstrate tact when interacting with patients and staff.
- Show flexibility and adaptability to operational changes.
- Attend 100% of mandatory in‑services.
- Identify and support department/organizational QI improvement opportunities.
- Adjust schedule to meet unit needs.
- Complete documentation for telemetry patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic computer skills.
- Detail oriented: follow directions from nurses and doctors.
- Understand electrical cardiac conduction system and rhythm recognition.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Complete orientation and telemetry interpretation competency.
- Preferred: CNA, EMT‑B, CRRT, Unit Secretary, LPN, OR RN.
Prefer prior experience as a Monitor Technician; general healthcare experience required.
