Licensed Practical Nurse; LPN - Medical​/Surgical

Position Summary

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical/Surgical. Part Time Day Shift (12 Hours) with every third weekend.

• Works under the supervision of the department Director, Manager, and registered nurse to provide nursing care for acutely ill patients.
• Performs assigned procedures within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
• Contributes to patient assessment by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
• Documents patient care and assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
• Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse License in Iowa or from a Compact State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Recent RN experience.

• One year med/surg nursing experience.
