The Food Service Assistant is responsible for monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register, and other related responsibilities. The role also includes complying with HACCP guidelines, providing outstanding customer service, communicating with patrons and co‑workers, and establishing effective working relationships.
The assistant will maintain quality control standards and may operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice‑cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers. Preferred experience in the food industry is desirable.
- Monitor and record food temperature.
- Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area.
- Prepare and serve food items.
- Restock food areas and clean/sanitize equipment.
- Receive payments using a computerized register.
- Follow HACCP guidelines and food safety protocols.
- Provide outstanding customer service and communicate with patrons and co‑workers.
- Operate kitchen equipment as needed.
- Minimum age 16 years.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Retail counting and reconciling of money experience preferred.
- Basic math, reading, writing and ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work independently when necessary.
- Ability to stand for the majority of the day and walk far distances.
- On‑the‑job training will be provided.
- Serv Safe certification may be required; BLS may be required depending on location.
