Fleet Technician

Location: Ottumwa, IA
Schedule: Full‑time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Reports To:Director of Maintenance

About the Role

First Resources Corp. is seeking a dependable and skilled Fleet Technician to join our Maintenance team. This is a critical, hands‑on role that directly supports the success of our organization by ensuring agency vehicles, equipment, and facilities are safe, reliable, and well maintained. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.

As a Fleet Technician, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overall upkeep of agency vehicles and equipment. You will also play a key role in safety, compliance, cost control, and operational readiness across multiple locations. This position requires a high level of accountability, independence, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the Azuga and Enterprise Fleet Maintenance programs
    , ensuring vehicles are serviced according to established schedules.
  • Develop and carry out regular maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment not covered under service contracts, including oil changes, filter replacements, light repairs, inspections, and cleaning.
  • Perform both routine and non‑routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds. When work cannot be completed internally, coordinate with supervisors to arrange outside contractors and verify satisfactory completion.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure proper use, maintenance, and servicing by drivers and technicians.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all equipment, repairs, and customer accounts.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to ensure fleet equipment is maintained consistently and comprehensively.
  • Monitor and report safety issues, injuries, and violations to the Safety Department, and assist with corrective actions.
  • Identify and report issues related to misuse of vehicles or equipment by drivers.
  • Support cost‑control initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce expenses and improve efficiency.
  • Requisition, secure, and manage maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Pick up supplies, parts, and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure work areas, tools, and facilities.
  • Perform yard work and snow removal at all First Resources Corp. properties and locations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation and remain available during inclement weather, floods, or fire emergencies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support department and organizational objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance management preferred.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, vehicle mechanics, plumbing, electrical systems, and general equipment maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of safety maintenance practices and applicable DOT, OSHA, and federal/state regulations
    .
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10‑Hour Certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and computer‑based programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license, personal auto insurance, and ability to be insured under company policy.
  • Willingness to use a personal vehicle for work‑related tasks and transport members when required.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time
    .
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
    , work in confined spaces, climb ladders, work at heights, and operate hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements

This role involves frequent travel, outdoor work, and physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and operating tools and equipment. The Fleet Technician must be comfortable working in various environments and weather conditions.
