The Role and Why It's Important
Our Pharmacy Delivery Drivers play a meaningful role in the lives of our customers by bringing their prescriptions directly to them, safely and on time. In this role, you'll represent Hy-Vee in customers' homes and communities, delivering care with professionalism and a friendly attitude.

What You'll Do
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one
- Deliver pharmacy customers' prescriptions to specified locations in a timely and professional manner
- Enter and exit the delivery vehicle multiple times per shift, navigate staircases and varying terrain to reach delivery destinations
- Maintain the cleanliness of the delivery vehicle inside and out
- Facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of delivery vehicles and report any issues promptly
- Maintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information in accordance with HIPAA
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
- Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
- Report to work when scheduled and on time

- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner
- Ability to identify problems and develop and execute solutions independently
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing
- Ability to maintain a high level of discretion when handling confidential patient information

Education and Experience
- No specific education required; we will provide all the training you need to succeed
- Valid driver's license with no DOT restrictions required; must be 18 years or older to drive a company vehicle
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently stand and walk while loading, transporting, and delivering pharmacy orders
- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens and sharps associated with handling and delivering prescription medications, including controlled substances
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
Working Environment
This role keeps you on the move throughout your shift, driving a delivery vehicle and delivering prescriptions directly to customers. You will have continual exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and equipment movement hazards, and there is significant pressure to deliver product in a timely manner. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
