The Accountant II is responsible for managing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting cycles with a focus on accuracy, timely reporting, and analytical review of financial statements. This role provides critical support in streamlining financial processes and delivering data-driven insights to ensure the long-term success of the division and organization.
Essential Functions- Financial Reporting & General Ledger: Manage journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure a precise and timely monthly closing process.
- Accounts Flow & Collections: Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including monitoring outstanding balances and collecting subtier waivers to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Project & Asset Administration: Execute the job setup process within the ERP system while managing recordkeeping for fixed assets, inventory, and essential accounting documentation.
- Audit Support &
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Coordinate with external auditors and internal departments to provide financial data, ad hoc reporting, and transaction support for the organization.
- Professionalism & Ethical Standards: Act with integrity and confidentiality while ensuring all actions align with Musselman & Hall’s company policies and core values.
- Organizational & Analytical Excellence: Apply strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to manage complex tasks and consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Accounting Principles & Research: Maintain a deep understanding of financial and accounting principles, and the ability to research topics and implement necessary changes.
- Technical Proficiency & Communication: Communicate effectively across the organization while utilizing Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and the Vista HRIS system.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- At least 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant or equivalent position required.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred
- Familiarity with construction billing, including lien waivers, retainage, and AIA format, preferred
