Development Accounting Manager / Senior Development Accounting Manager

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Development Accounting Manager or Senior Development Accounting Manager to work from our Overland Park, KS office location.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high-performing team, including mentoring and training staff members and identifying cross‑training opportunities.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor progress to enhance professional development.
  • Lead and nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives.
  • Lead the team in executing and coordinating monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and internal reporting, including review of work papers, analysis and other documentation supporting the monthly close process and month‑end balances across all accounts.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure timely, accurate monthly accounting close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and explanations of actuals vs. plan flux analysis.
  • Maintain detailed account reconciliations and gain intimate knowledge of critical account balances.
  • Review journal entries and other accounting transactions, maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and ensure financial statements are GAAP compliant.
  • Ensure the integrity of data from ERP and reporting systems, including implementation of new systems.
  • Provide support on annual financial audits, including providing backup documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Support management initiatives including process standardization and simplification, financial analysis and research, and reporting.
  • Ensure defined internal controls are followed on a consistent basis for Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.
  • Assist in financial budgeting and forecasting.
  • Handle ad‑hoc projects and additional recurring responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.
  • Assist with integration of acquired companies/properties.
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain information required for financial analysis and variance resolutions.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting.
  • Seven or more years of experience in accounting/financial reporting in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience in accounting/financial reporting in a fast‑paced environment.
  • CPA certification.
  • Two or more years of management experience.
  • Workday experience or other large ERP systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strategic thinker with an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial processes.
  • Ability to adapt to and effect change, and welcome new challenges.
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems.
  • Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast‑pace work environment.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions.
