Project Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Accounting Specialist to join our growing accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting the financial management of projects from initiation through completion, ensuring accurate billing, accounts receivable management, budget tracking, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Project Accounting Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders to monitor project financial performance, maintain accurate records, and support month-end and year-end accounting activities. This position also serves as a cross-functional resource within the accounting department and may provide backup support for other accounting functions as needed.

• Monitor project financial activity and maintain accurate project accounting records.
• Assist with the creation, maintenance, and updating of project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track project costs, revenue, and profitability, ensuring financial data is complete and accurate.
• Review project financial information for discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Prepare project-related financial reports and analyses for management.
• Support project managers and business leaders with budget-to-actual reporting and financial insights.
• Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and process customer invoices in accordance with contractual terms and project milestones.
• Monitor aging reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules as needed.
• Collaborate with project teams, operations, and accounting leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable, purchasing, and other accounting functions when need

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of accounting, project accounting, billing, accounts receivable, or related experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Experience with project-based accounting, budgeting, job costing, or financial reporting.
