About the Role

As a Tax Manager in our Insurance Tax Practice, you’ll be a key leader in a specialized, high-volume corporate tax compliance process focused primarily on Form 1120-PC returns. You’ll work across teams to review returns, coach preparers, communicate with clients, and keep work moving accurately and efficiently. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a meaningful return portfolio while collaborating with experienced professionals who can support your development in the producer-owned reinsurance company (PORC) area.

What

You’ll Do
  • Lead and coordinate a high-volume corporate tax compliance process, primarily involving Form 1120-PC returns.
  • Review federal corporate tax returns and supporting work papers for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Own an assigned portion of the return portfolio while helping coordinate workflow across the broader tax practice.
  • Work closely with domestic and international team members to establish priorities, monitor progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to preparers so they understand return procedures, workpaper expectations, and the tax treatment behind the work.
  • Participate in return preparation during training and as needed to understand the process, support the team, and strengthen review quality.
  • Communicate proactively with clients regarding information requests, open items, timing, and tax matters.
  • Keep preparers, reviewers, managers, and senior leaders aligned on responsibilities, status, and deadlines.
  • Research and resolve corporate and insurance tax matters, including issues involving the IRS, and document conclusions clearly.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, training, and feedback to team members across experience levels and locations.
  • Step into technical, client-facing, or team support needs as workloads and priorities shift.
  • Engage in professional development and firm-sponsored training to stay current on relevant corporate and insurance tax requirements and industry practices.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent credential is required.
  • At least 8 years of relevant tax experience is preferred; flexibility may be considered based on the depth and level of experience.
  • Strong corporate tax experience, with Form 1120 as a primary area of focus; insurance tax experience is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience managing or supervising tax professionals is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a high-volume compliance process while maintaining quality, communication, and client service.
  • Ability to review complex work, understand how returns are prepared, and coach staff through technical and process questions.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the maturity to manage competing priorities, anticipate issues, and follow work through completion.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style and willingness to work across levels, teams, and locations.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to being a hands-on team member who is willing to contribute wherever needed.
