As our Director of Accounting, you’ll provide leadership and oversight for the financial and accounting functions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial information, supporting strong financial processes and controls, and providing leadership with the visibility needed to make informed business decisions.

You’ll work closely with ownership and department leaders across construction, purchasing, estimating, sales, and operations to ensure our financial systems support both individual projects and the overall health of the company.

Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Lead the Accounting Function:
    Oversee the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll oversight, and general ledger accuracy.
  • Own Construction & Job Cost Accounting:
    Ensure accurate and timely job costing, project financial reporting, cost allocation, work-in-progress reporting, and financial tracking across our custom home projects.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Prepare and oversee financial statements, forecasts, budgets, cash flow reporting, and other financial analysis that provides leadership with a clear understanding of company performance.
  • Support Strong Financial Controls & Processes:
    Maintain and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, systems, and processes to support accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and the evolving needs of the business including AI integration.
  • Support Business & Project Performance:
    Partner with leadership to identify financial trends, project variances, risks, and opportunities and provide meaningful financial insight to support decision-making.
  • Manage Compliance & Financial Relationships:
    Coordinate tax, audit, insurance, banking, and other financial requirements while maintaining strong relationships with outside accountants, lenders, and financial partners.
  • Lead & Develop the Accounting Team:
    Provide leadership, accountability, training, and support to the accounting team while establishing clear expectations and efficient workflows.
About You

You’re an experienced accounting leader who understands that great accounting is about giving the business accurate information, strong financial controls, and confidence in its numbers. You’re comfortable taking ownership of the accounting function while also partnering with leadership and operational teams throughout the company.

You’ll be a strong fit if you:
  • Have significant accounting and financial leadership experience, ideally within residential construction, custom homebuilding, real estate development, or a project-based business.
  • Have a strong understanding of job costing, construction accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy and accountability.
  • Can see both the details and the bigger financial picture.
  • Are comfortable identifying opportunities to strengthen systems, processes, and efficiencies as the company continues to grow and evolve.
  • Have experience leading and developing an accounting team and can build on the strengths of an existing team while providing clear direction and accountability.
  • Are confident working directly with executive leadership and serving as a trusted financial resource for the organization.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or similar professional credentials are valued but not required depending on experience.
