At ERM, as a Consultant, Health and Safety based in Overland Park, Kansas, you'll play a strategic, hands-on role helping clients across the technology, energy, and manufacturing sectors solve complex health and safety challenges. This is more than project execution—you'll partner with clients to strengthen systems, influence culture, and deliver practical, high-impact solutions alongside a team of respected safety professionals in a growing Midwest practice.

Organizations are navigating increasingly complex safety, regulatory, and operational risks. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted advisor—helping clients move beyond compliance to build proactive, resilient health and safety programs that protect people and enable business performance. Your work will directly influence safer workplaces and stronger operational outcomes across industries.

• Support clients in solving critical H&S challenges across areas such as:
• Chemical Safety/Inventory
• Lab Safety and Inspections
• Industrial Hygiene
• Risk Assessments
• Biosafety
• Haz Mat
• Safety Process Improvement
• Behavior Based Safety
• Process Hazard Assessment
• Machine Guarding
• Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
• NFPA 70E
• Electrical safety
• And many others
• Help clients strengthen safety culture, reduce risk exposure, and improve operational performance
• Act as a key contributor to client engagements, balancing technical expertise with relationship management

• BS/MS in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science degree or equivalent experience
• 2+ years (4+ years preferred) of relevant experience working with clients, preferably within technology, manufacturing, or R&D environments
• Knowledge of OSHA federal regulations, state and local safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Experience with practical implementation of one or more H&S focus areas listed above
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining attention to detail
• Ability to multitask, remain flexible, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort navigating ambiguity from clients, regulators, and stakeholders
• High level of professionalism, ethics, responsiveness, and positivity
• Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information with discretion
• Strong team collaboration skills, particularly in high-pressure or fast-paced situations

  This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

• Experience supporting clients in technology, manufacturing, or R&D environments
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to consulting engagements and client relationship growth

• Take assignments at client sites as part of the ERM team to help solve their most pressing H&S challenges
• Assist in developing solutions to complex technical and regulatory issues and concerns
• Engage with local regulators on topics including building code, fire code, and building/environmental permits
• Enable clients to achieve their business objectives through effective H&S strategies
• Navigate client relationships with sensitivity to confidentiality and proprietary information
• Implement innovative H&S programs and strategies in areas such as industrial hygiene, behavior-based safety, safety management systems, process safety, risk management, training, and compliance
• Support clients in identifying programmatic needs amid competing operational priorities
• Manage tasks to meet scope, budget, and schedule targets while exceeding client expectations
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business
• Collaborate with and delegate to project team members to deliver on client commitments
• Develop a strong internal and external network to solve complex, multidisciplinary challenges
