Goebel Mitts Construction – Superintendent (Overland Park, KS)

The superintendent will manage day‑to‑day field operations, oversee the short‑term schedule, ensure quality control, and coordinate subcontractors on all communication, safety, and production matters.

Job Requirements

Time: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm (varies by project need); must be flexible for extended hours and on‑call duty.

Responsibilities
  • Review job specifications and blueprints to determine construction requirements and communicate information to all relevant parties.
  • Determine material and equipment needs and coordinate delivery throughout the project.
  • Communicate project schedule to subcontractors, ensuring they understand deadlines and onsite expectations; adjust labor levels as required.
  • Conduct quality inspections of trade work, ensuring installations meet specifications and rectify deficiencies in partnership with subcontractors.
  • Consistently monitor subcontractor performance and provide feedback on quality and timeliness.
  • Proactively monitor projects so subcontractors have adequate material and manpower to keep the project on schedule.
  • Resolve/diffuse worksite issues quickly to keep production on track.
  • Attend and be present for all City inspections throughout the project and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Read and incorporate change orders efficiently, minimizing cost and schedule impacts.
  • Maintain clean, organized job sites through all construction phases.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve production effectiveness and safety.
  • Monitor safety training compliance, participate in inspections, and enforce all safety guidelines.
  • Produce and retain field reports and documentation (e.g., project schedule, cost reports, delay reports, work logs).
  • Produce short‑term schedule narratives (two‑week lookahead), adjusting as needed to stay on schedule.
  • Facilitate weekly jobsite meetings; participate in client meetings to report progress and resolve outstanding issues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial construction superintendent role.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient reading of plans, specifications, drawings, and schedules.
  • Basic knowledge of project management and scheduling software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Compensation
  • Base salary: $70,000 – $120,000
  • Performance bonus: up to 20 % annual bonus potential.
