Mechanical & Piping Estimator

Direct hire position:
Mechanical Piping Construction Estimator – Greater Kansas City Area.

A well‑established specialty contractor is hiring a Mechanical Piping Construction Estimator for its Greater Kansas City office. The firm delivers multi‑trade construction solutions across the U.S., including mechanical, piping, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems on complex non‑residential projects in healthcare, industrial, mission critical, and heavy commercial sectors. This role offers a lead estimating position with real ownership over bid outcomes, team leadership, and direct access to decision‑makers at the owner and GC level.

• $90K-$150K, dependent on experience

• Prepare detailed mechanical piping construction estimates used for bid preparation, project planning, subcontractor and vendor selection, and cost‑effectiveness analysis.
• Lead a team of estimators: manage work assignments, performance reviews, resource allocation, and skills development.
• Collaborate with marketing to evaluate bid opportunities against the company's strategic growth targets.
• Represent the firm's capabilities directly to GC and owner‑level decision‑makers during the estimating and pre‑award process.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and field staff to develop accurate estimates and resolve scope or pricing questions.
• Track and analyze cost trends to support ongoing process improvement and margin management.

• High school diploma or GED required;
  Bachelor's degree in construction management or mechanical engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical piping construction estimating experience.
• Demonstrated experience bidding non‑residential projects at $250,000+.
• Experience in industrial, healthcare, mission critical, government, or heavy commercial construction preferred.
• Proficiency with computerized estimating software;
  Accubid Enterprise experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn new platforms required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to external stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required; must pass background check and drug screen.
