Job SummaryThe Associate Subcontracts Manager oversees assigned subcontract activities for proposals and projects, may lead office teams, and champions the Subcontracts process for all office and field activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral:
- Prepare and manage assigned subcontracts for projects while following established policies and procedures.
- Ensure subcontract documents are issued correctly and on schedule.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of project subcontract budgets and schedules (e.g., man‑hours, cost, subcontract milestone durations).
- Assist with the establishment and/or monitoring of subcontract goals.
- Participate in meetings for assigned project(s), representing the Subcontracts department.
- File appropriate documents and follow filing rules.
Subcontract Development Responsibilities (if assigned):
- Solicit budgetary pricing for subcontracts to support estimating and proposal efforts for major projects; may lead and coordinate the entire budgetary pricing effort on non‑major projects.
- Execute and manage the subcontract development process on assigned subcontracts, including bid list preparation, solicitation of requests for proposals, and evaluating, negotiating, and awarding of subcontracts.
- Lead negotiations for assigned subcontracts.
- Understand the Owner's contract and participate in the incorporation of appropriate scope‑specific flowdowns into Subcontract agreements under oversight.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with prequalification requirements.
Subcontract Administration Responsibilities (if assigned):
- Assist with the resolution of claims.
- Monitor project subcontract activities and report status.
- Collaborate to resolve major complex subcontract issues.
- Participate and may facilitate management of strategic subcontractor relationships.
- Perform subcontract administration activities as assigned, including running subcontractor meetings, drafting/reviewing/filing formal correspondence, executing the Change Management process, reviewing and processing invoices, resolving/back charging claims/liquidated damages, and closing out assigned subcontracts.
Acts in capacity of a "lead person" but does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Minimum QualificationsRequires a BA or BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Business, Technical, or related field. Relevant field or office experience can substitute for a degree. Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, construction execution, means & methods, and construction equipment.

Preferred QualificationsSix (6) years of relevant experience in Subcontracts, Construction Project Management, or Procurement preferred or proven ability to perform at the capacity identified herein.
