General Laborer – Erosion Control Construction

This role supports erosion control construction projects by preparing job sites, handling materials, and assisting with the installation of concrete mat systems. You work as part of a traveling field crew, follow project plans and directions from the superintendent, and perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in all weather conditions across multiple locations.

• Prepare construction sites for erosion control installations, including clearing, leveling, and conditioning soil.
• Rake and prepare soil surfaces to ensure proper application of concrete mats.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and basic power tools to perform daily tasks.
• Read and interpret construction plans and follow detailed instructions from the superintendent and foreman.
• Support the operator/foreman and other crew members with general construction and labor tasks as needed.
• Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment, including items up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including job sites, tools, and equipment.
• Work long hours on a production-focused schedule, meeting project deadlines and productivity expectations.
• Travel to job sites across the country and remain on location for extended periods of time.
• Adapt to working in various field conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and other environmental elements.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to protect yourself, your team, and project property.

• Proven work ethic and reliability in physically demanding roles.
• Experience with general construction or general labor work.
• Ability to safely use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and basic power tools.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively and remain away from home for weeks or months at a time.
• Ability to follow directions closely and work under the guidance of a superintendent and foreman.
• Mechanical aptitude for working with tools, equipment, and basic construction processes.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to site procedures.
• Capacity to work long hours, including 60–100 hours per week when required.

• Experience in concrete work, carpentry, or general construction is a plus.
• Experience in solar, sheet metal, painting, pipeline, packaging, or assembly work is beneficial.
• Experience with forklifts or other material-handling equipment is an advantage.
• Mechanical experience or aptitude for field service work is helpful.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities and adapt to changing tasks on the job site.
