SummaryThe Senior Architectural Associate serves as a key technical and design leader within the architectural team. This position is responsible for leading projects from programming and conceptual design through construction administration while ensuring quality, client satisfaction, and project success. The Senior Architectural Associate mentors junior staff, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and provides technical expertise throughout all project phases.
This position is based in one of Echelon's offices located in Overland Park, Kansas;
Pittsburg, Kansas; or Independence, Kansas.
- Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles, building systems, construction methods, and project delivery processes.
- Ability to lead the development of innovative, functional, and sustainable design solutions.
- Strong understanding of building codes, accessibility requirements, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
- Expertise in construction documentation, detailing, specifications, and quality assurance reviews.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and interior design consultants.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior architectural staff through technical guidance and project leadership.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills throughout all phases of project delivery.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present concepts, design solutions, and technical information to clients, stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and project teams.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and guide project discussions toward successful outcomes.
- Lead architectural projects from programming and conceptual design through construction completion.
- Develop innovative design solutions that align with client goals, project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
- Guide the development of schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
- Coordinate project vision and design intent with project team members and consultants.
- Prepare and present design concepts, renderings, and project narratives to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate architectural design efforts with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and interior design disciplines.
- Lead project meetings, design reviews, and consultant coordination sessions.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address project challenges and risks.
- Participate in Integrated Design Workshops (IDW) and multidisciplinary planning efforts.
- Oversee the preparation and review of construction documents, specifications, and technical details.
- Conduct quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Interpret and apply building codes, zoning regulations, life safety requirements, and industry standards.
