Assistant Principal
Purpose Statement
The job of Assistant Principal is done for the purpose/s of assisting the building Principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operation, remaining consistent with policies of the Board of Education. The Assistant Principal is expected to work with leadership at all levels of administration to provide a program of continuity throughout the school system.
Essential Functions
* Coordinates services as delegated by the building principal in the areas of student attendance, discipline, guidance, health services, special education programs, and psychological services.
* Monitors student attendance and conducts appropriate interventions as needed.
* Addresses student non-attendance behavior issues, following school board policy and school-wide guidelines.
* Develops and supervises faculty and staff members by setting goals, providing regular feedback, documenting performance, and conducting annual performance appraisals, in conjunction with the building principal.
* Assists the Principal in providing leadership in curriculum development, utilizing research-based practices for bringing about desired changes and improvements.
* Makes recommendations to the principal regarding student assignment, retention and promotion.
* Assists in the formulation of the operating budget and makes decisions in the dispersal of budgetary funds.
* Assists in the coordination and supervision of after-school clubs and extracurricular activities as assigned by the principal.
Other Functions
* Coordinates and manages school-wide special events.
* Attends student activities in the building whenever possible.
* Makes presentations to parents and the community as needed regarding school related issues such as achievement tests, course development, safety, school events, etc.
* Manages staff leave and other HR-related items.
* Creates the building master schedule, under the direction of the building principal.
* Serves on district committees as needed.
* Other Functions

Experience:
Minimum of five years related experience required.
Education:
Master's degree in Education Administration or related field
