Grade 5 - Elementary Teacher

This position is responsible for implementing, organizing, and planning an appropriate instructional program for a 5th Grade classroom. This position is expected to encourage and guide student's intellectual development by combining the instructor's unique pedagogical and professional experiences with the program of study. This position reports to the building principal.

Primary duties/responsibilities include assigning, grading, and providing feedback on assignments, class work, homework, and tests; attending in-service training, unit meetings, and workshops; contributing in meetings with communities, departments, districts, parents, and schools; facilitating active learning by assigning and preparing classroom curriculum; implementing strategies to encourage, instruct, and monitor to optimize student learning; maintaining comprehensive and precise records of student progress and required documentation;

participating in academic, extracurricular, and professional support activities; positively correcting in conducive behavior in accordance with district procedures and rules; and using the latest technologies to differentiate and support future-ready instruction. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and experience requirements include a bachelor's degree in an applicable subject area required, a master's degree in an applicable subject area preferred, Kansas teaching certification in an applicable subject area required, and experience in an educational setting or professional experience preferred.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously; high degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility; highly collaborative team player; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.); and ability to identify areas of improvement and opportunity and follow-up to obtain results.

Physical requirements include the performance of light work. The position must be able to discern and prepare data to communicate information with parents, staff, and students. The position requires occasionally moving between buildings and at times remaining in a stationary position. The position is performed in a generally hazard-free environment and a clean atmosphere.
