Overview
Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is seeking non‑credit instructors to teach English to non‑native speakers. The positions focus on reading, vocabulary development, listening, speaking, writing and grammar in a student‑centered classroom environment at JCAE locations (West Park and Center of Grace). These are ELL instructor roles, not adjunct positions.

Starting Salary Range: $25.00 per hour and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume
Responsibilities- Create and submit weekly lesson plans, utilizing the digital template provided, to the building lead.
- Learn and implement the required curriculum emphasizing life skills, workplace skills, digital literacy, civics/citizenship and more.
- Access and utilize the JCAE ELL website and other online resources to teach in a classroom setting.
- Maintain student data, attendance records and other online resources.
- Confer with learners at the beginning and end of the semester to discuss goals and growth.
- Participate in new student intake onboarding such as registration, orientation, and testing.
- Participate in staff development activities online and in‑person each semester.
- Complete all JCCC annual mandatory training and administrative requirements, plus onboarding requirements for JCAE new teachers.
- Access email regularly and read Weekly Updates to stay informed of expectations and upcoming events.
- Work with the building lead to schedule formal observations, with debriefs and follow‑up observations to confirm implementation of recommendations.
- Fill in periodically for other teachers.
- Daytime and evening shifts available.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English as a Second Language or related area and experience working with English language learners in a classroom setting.
- Ability to create quality digital lesson plans and maintain a student‑centered classroom.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills.
- Interactive teaching method.
- Ability to understand, support and differentiate for multi‑level learners.
- Proficiency in basic classroom technology, Microsoft applications, and other program technologies.
- Flexibility.
- Minimum of one year teaching in a classroom setting (not individual tutoring).
- Experience working with a culturally diverse population.
- Experience teaching adult learners and working with Microsoft Office applications and basic classroom technology.
- TESOL certificate from an accredited university or a master's degree in teaching English as a Second Language.
- Ability to work with a diverse adult student population.
- Ability to teach in a student‑centered classroom for 3‑hour sessions with interactive learning.
- Experience teaching adult English Language Learners.
