Position SummaryThe JCAE Integrated English Language Transition Coach supports JCCC's mission by supporting English Language Learning (ELL) and English Connection (EC) students in achieving academic, career, and community success. In this role, the coach removes barriers by connecting students to essential resources like housing, transportation, and childcare, while assisting internationally trained professionals with transcript evaluation and credential translation. The incumbent acts as an international and immigrant onboarding specialist, guiding students through admissions, financial aid, and enrollment to ensure smooth transitions from non-credit to credit programs.
The incumbent provides career planning and job placement support, assists with community outreach, maintains student performance data, and participates in professional development to effectively serve diverse student populations. This position reports to the English Language Learning Program Coordinator. This is full-time, 40-hour per week, 12-month per year position.
- Bachelor s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in adult education as an instructor, and/or advisor, mentor, or coach.
- Master s degree in a related field. Available for flexible scheduling, including weekday evenings.
- Knowledge of functions and processes associated with college admissions, financial aid, and internationally trained professionals.
- Connect students with essential support services (transportation, childcare, housing, food, etc.) to eliminate barriers that might otherwise impede their academic progress.
- Stay current with community resources available to meet basic needs and cultivate relationships with agencies that provide them to promote students ease of access to resources.
- Initiates ongoing contact with JCAE students and instructors to inform them of the support and services available.
- Follows up promptly and thoroughly with students in crisis, referring them to appropriate providers with warm hand-offs when possible.
